Olympian Deriba Merga of Ethiopia survived stiff competition to defend the men's title, while reigning world champion Mary Keitany of Kenya created a new record to be named champion in the women's category of the $210,000 Delhi Half Marathon in New Delhi on Sunday.
Olympian Deriba Merga and Aselefech Mergia of Ethiopia won the men's and women's crowns in the Delhi Half Marathon on Sunday. Merga set the course ablaze, clocking 59.15 minutes, to set a new meet record.
Ethiopian Atsedu Tsegay demolished the course record to emerge triumphant in the elite men's category, while Florence Kiplagat led a Kenyan clean sweep in the women's event of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon in New Delhi.
